50 Dollars
Australia · Reserve Bank of Australia
Part of the Reserve Bank of Australia's Next Generation Banknote (NGB) program, the 2023 $50 note retains the portraits of David Unaipon (Ngarrindjeri nation) and Edith Cowan introduced in 2018, but was reprinted bearing the signature of Michele Bullock — the RBA's ninth and first female governor. Design elements include Unaipon's totem, the Black Swan, imagery from his published writings, Cowan's gumnut brooch, and the King Edward Memorial Hospital. The 2023 printing represents a milestone as the first Australian banknote signed by a woman serving as governor.
