1.000 Ngultrum
Bhutan · Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan
The 1,000 Ngultrum is the highest denomination in the standard circulation series issued by the Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan, re-dated 2021 with an updated governor's signature. The note continues the design of the 2013 series, placing the reigning monarch alongside Tashichho Dzong, which houses the throne room and several government ministries. The hybrid cotton-polymer substrate provides superior durability and anti-soiling properties compared to traditional cotton paper.
