50 Ngultrum
Bhutan · Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan
The 50 Ngultrum note belongs to the 2013 series that was re-dated and re-signed in 2021, reflecting a new signatory at the Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan. The design retains the portrait of the Fifth King alongside Trongsa Dzong, the largest dzong-fortress in Bhutan and historical seat of the Tongsa Penlop, which has been the base of power from which every Bhutanese king has governed. Printed on a hybrid cotton-polymer substrate, the 2021 emission offers enhanced durability suited to Bhutan's extreme climatic variations.
