The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued the 10 KM note on June 22, 1998, as the currency was established following the Dayton Agreement. The Federation variant (Latin script) features Mehmedalija 'Mak' Dizdar, one of Bosnia's most celebrated 20th-century poets. The note represents the dual-entity design system of BiH banknotes, with parallel Latin-script and Cyrillic-script variants that serve both the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska. The reverse displays a fragment of Stećak Radimlja, medieval tombstones that symbolize Bosnia's historical and cultural significance. The note includes advanced micro-optical security elements and iridescent features. Current notes from 2012 onward remain in full circulation; pre-2012 issues ceased to be legal tender on January 1, 2025.
