The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued the 10 KM Cyrillic-script note on June 22, 1998, representing Republika Srpska within the dual-entity banknote system. The note features Aleksa Šantić (1868–1924), a prominent Serbian and Yugoslav poet whose works are foundational to South Slavic literature. Unlike the Federation variant with its Stećak imagery, the Republika Srpska reverse displays a loaf of bread, symbolizing cultural and poetic themes in Šantić's work. Both variants—Latin-script (Federation) and Cyrillic-script (Republika Srpska)—are fully interchangeable legal tender throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, reflecting the country's constitutional structure and post-war reconciliation through currency design. Current 2012+ issues remain in circulation; pre-2012 notes ceased legal tender on January 1, 2025.
