Originally issued on July 27, 1998, following the Dayton Agreement that ended the Bosnian War, this 50 KM note celebrates Jovan Dučić, one of Bosnia's most celebrated literary figures. The note exists in two interchangeable variants: a Federation version (Latin script) and a Republika Srpska version (Cyrillic script), reflecting Bosnia's unique political structure. The 2012 redesign introduced the Motion™ security thread, a 4mm windowed element featuring a quill that appears to move left and right when the note is tilted. Additional security measures include an optically variable ink on the denomination number (shifting from purple-red to greenish brown), watermark with Dučić's profile, and microprinting details.
