5 Brunei Dollars
Part of the 2026 polymer banknote series announced in September 2025, the 5 Brunei Dollar note continues the tradition of honoring Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah while introducing a different native Brunei flower. The bunga kunyit (Curcuma longa), commonly known as turmeric, represents the nation's botanical diversity and its historical significance in traditional medicine and culinary practices throughout Southeast Asia. The Lapau, Brunei's Royal Ceremonial Hall, appears on the obverse as an important venue for state functions and cultural events. GUARDIAN™ polymer construction ensures durability in tropical climates. Color-shifting inks and dynamic window security elements provide authentication, while DOMINO™ tactile embossed marks in a multi-dot pattern unique to this denomination enable accessibility.
