The Brunei 2022 50 Ringgit/Dollar note is a continuation of the commemorative series first issued in 2017 to mark the 50th anniversary (Golden Jubilee) of His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah's accession to the throne. The Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD), which succeeded the Brunei Currency and Monetary Board in 2011, issues subsequent date variants — including 2019, 2020, and 2022 — in the same commemorative design to meet ongoing numismatic demand. The note is printed in brown and yellow on a multicolour underprint with text in both Jawi script and English.
