The highest denomination in the 2026 GUARDIAN™ polymer series, the 500 Brunei Dollar note pays tribute to Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien (1914–1986), the previous Sultan and father of the current reigning Sultan. Omar 'Ali Saifuddien transformed Brunei from a protectorate into a sovereign nation and established the foundation of modern Brunei Darussalam. The note features the tepus kantan (Etlingera solaris), a flowering ginger plant valued in traditional Brunei medicine and cuisine. This denomination employs the most advanced security features in the series.
