The 2022-dated Canadian 5 Dollar note is a print-run variant of the Frontiers Series (seventh series) polymer banknote first introduced on 7 November 2013. The Frontiers Series was Canada's first polymer currency, designed for greater durability and enhanced security over the preceding Canadian Journey paper series. The note honours Sir Wilfrid Laurier, Canada's seventh Prime Minister (1896–1911) and first francophone to hold the office. The reverse celebrates Canada's contribution to space exploration through the Canadarm2, operated in partnership with NASA aboard the International Space Station. The 2022 print run carries updated signature combinations reflecting the Bank of Canada's current Governor.
