The Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) was established on 1 January 1997, and to mark its 25th anniversary two commemorative banknotes — in denominations of $25 and $50 — were released in early 2023. The $50 note carries the same design as the current circulation series but adds a holographic foil patch bearing the CIMA 25th Anniversary logo to the left of the royal portrait.
