Issued to commemorate the 2024 Lunar New Year and the Year of the Dragon, this polymer banknote was released on February 10, 2024, with approximately 100 million notes entering circulation. The obverse displays a dragon alongside the national emblem of the People's Republic of China, while the reverse depicts children performing a dragon dance with traditional lanterns in red and gold tones. The note features the denomination '20' in green SICPA SPARK ORIGIN® security ink and includes text in Mongolian, Tibetan, Uyghur, and Zhuang scripts. This is the first in a planned 12-year commemorative series celebrating each Chinese zodiac animal.
