The People's Bank of China issued two 20 yuan commemorative banknotes on 21 December 2021 to mark the 24th Olympic Winter Games held in Beijing from 4 to 20 February 2022. One note (paper) celebrates snow sports and features a freestyle skier, while the companion note (polymer) celebrates ice sports with a figure skater; e403 is the paper (snow sports) version. Both notes incorporate motifs from the Northern Song dynasty masterpiece 'A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains' (千里江山图), blending classical Chinese artistic heritage with the Olympic spirit. A total of 200 million sets were issued.
