Issued by Danmarks Nationalbank, the 50 Kroner banknote is part of the 'Bridges of Denmark' series introduced in 2009. An upgraded 2009A version is entering circulation from February 2026 with enhanced security features while maintaining the original Sallingsund Bridge design on the obverse and Skarpsalling Pot on the reverse. The series interprets the theme of Danish bridges as connections between various regions and as links between past and present, as conceptualized by artist Karin Birgitte Lund. These upgraded notes precede the planned entirely new banknote series expected in 2028-2029.
