The Central Bank of Egypt introduced Egypt's first polymer banknote, the 10 pound note, on July 5, 2022, with continued circulation through 2023. This groundbreaking note was produced at Egypt's new state-of-the-art printing facility located in the New Administrative Capital east of Cairo — the largest print works in Egypt. The obverse features the Al-Fattah Al-Alim Mosque, a magnificent example of contemporary Islamic architecture located in the new capital, representing Egypt's modern development and architectural vision.

The reverse celebrates Egypt's ancient heritage, depicting the statue of Hatshepsut, the female pharaoh of the New Kingdom, alongside Queen Cleopatra imagery and the Pyramids of Giza, bridging the nation's Islamic and Pharaonic civilizations in a single design. Advanced intaglio printing techniques enhance the design elements, including the Central Bank of Egypt text, denomination value, and mosque imagery.

Under ultraviolet light, design elements appear in vibrant green, yellow, and orange hues, providing additional security and visual appeal. The Al-Fattah Al-Alim Mosque, which translates as the Mosque of the All-Knowing Conqueror, is one of the largest mosques in the world and serves as the centerpiece of Egypt's new administrative capital. Paper 10-pound notes continue to circulate alongside the polymer versions, which offer approximately four times greater durability.
