The 5 Dalasi note is part of the Central Bank of The Gambia's 2019 bird series, with the 2023 dated issues representing a new signature variety. Measuring 124 x 62 mm, the predominantly red note was printed by De La Rue and replaced earlier designs that featured the portrait of former president Yahya Jammeh, reflecting The Gambia's post-2017 democratic transition. The obverse showcases the Giant Kingfisher (Megaceryle maxima) alongside the Gambian coat of arms, while the reverse depicts cattle grazing — a nod to the country's agricultural heritage.
