Georgia 5 Lari

The National Bank of Georgia placed the 5 lari banknote of 2021 emission into circulation on 1 July 2021, alongside the 20 lari of the same year. The design is identical to preceding issues; the sole modification was a slight change in the tonality of background patterns to reduce the risk of confusion between denominations. Ivane Javakhishvili (1876–1940) was the founder of Tbilisi State University (1918) and one of the most eminent Georgian historians and public figures of the 20th century. Niko Pirosmani (1862–1918) is Georgia's most celebrated naïve painter.
