The King Charles III £5 note was unveiled on 20 December 2022 and entered circulation on 5 June 2024, making it the first Bank of England note to carry the new monarch's portrait in the see-through security window as well as on the face. The reverse design is unchanged from the Elizabeth II series: it features a 1941 Yousuf Karsh photograph of Churchill, his famous speech quote, the Houses of Parliament, and a green foil maze representing Blenheim Palace, Churchill's birthplace. The note is legal tender alongside still-circulating Queen Elizabeth II £5 notes.
