Issued on 27 May 2020, this commemorative note celebrates the 200th anniversary of Central American independence (1821–2021). It is the first commemorative banknote ever issued by the Banco de Guatemala and the first vertically oriented note in Guatemalan history. Twenty-five million copies were printed and released into circulation in 2021.
