The States of Guernsey introduced an updated 5 Pounds banknote on January 19, 2023, featuring enhanced security measures to combat counterfeiting. The note displays Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse, along with traditional Guernsey design elements including the Euphrosyne Kendal lifeboat, Guernsey lily, and Town Church in Saint Peter Port. The banknote is printed in pink, blue, green, brown, red, and yellow colors and features the seal of the Bailiwick of Guernsey flanked by olive branches.

This update was produced by De La Rue in conjunction with the States of Guernsey as part of a comprehensive modernization of all Guernsey pound denominations. The primary security advancement is the introduction of the PUREIMAGE holographic windowed thread, which displays three demetalized leopards and the denomination 5 that shift dynamically from dark to light when the note is tilted in any direction, making counterfeiting significantly more difficult.

Guernsey is a British Crown dependency in the English Channel with its own currency, the Guernsey pound, which circulates at parity with the British pound sterling. The Guernsey lily (Nerine sarniensis) depicted on the note has been associated with the island since the 17th century and is one of Guernsey's most recognized cultural symbols. The note was produced as part of the same series that launched earlier denominations featuring the Queen's portrait, which continued in use following her death in September 2022.
