The 10 gourdes note is part of Haiti's bicentennial independence commemorative series (1804–2004), re-dated 2021 for continued circulation. Sanité Bélair (1781–1802) was a lieutenant in Toussaint Louverture's army and one of the few women to hold military rank during the Haitian Revolution; she was executed by French colonial forces at age 21. The note is printed on polymer by De La Rue and bears text in both French and Haitian Creole.
