50 Rupees

The Reserve Bank of India introduced the redesigned 50 Rupee note on 18 August 2017 as part of the Mahatma Gandhi New Series, and the type continues to circulate with successive date and signature variants through 2026. The obverse carries the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi with the Lion Capital of Ashoka emblem, while the reverse displays the stone chariot of Hampi, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with the denomination written in fifteen Indian languages on the language panel.

The note has a fluorescent blue base colour and measures 135 × 66 mm. Security features include a windowed security thread with 'भारत' and 'RBI' inscriptions, a watermark of Mahatma Gandhi with electrotype '50', micro-lettering, and a see-through register with the denominational numeral.
