Indonesia 20.000 Rupiah

The 20,000 Rupiah note was introduced by Bank Indonesia on 18 August 2022 as part of the seven-denomination 2022 Rupiah series, unveiled around Indonesia's 77th Independence Day. The obverse features Dr. Gerungan Saul Samuel Jacob Ratulangi, national hero and first governor of Sulawesi, alongside the coat of arms of Indonesia, an outline of the archipelago, and the black orchid (Coelogyne pandurata). The reverse depicts a Gong dancer, scenery of the Derawan Islands in East Kalimantan, and repeated black orchid motifs.

The banknote measures 141 × 65 mm in predominantly green tones. Security elements include a windowed security thread with demetalized denomination marking, an embedded watermark with electrotype, microlenses, and optically variable ink with dynamic motion effects visible when the note is tilted. The 2022-series notes carry date and signature variants through 2026.
