5.000 Rupiah

The 5,000 Rupiah banknote from the 2022 series honors Dr. K.H. Idham Chalid, a prominent Islamic scholar and independence advocate. The obverse features his portrait with Indonesia's coat of arms and a tuberose flower at the bottom-left, accompanied by a map and bank logo registration device. The reverse displays a tricolor design in orange, blue, and pink tones, depicting the Tari Gambyong dancer (with traditional scarves), Mount Bromo volcano in East Java, and tuberose flowers (Polianthes tuberosa), representing Indonesia's natural beauty and cultural heritage.

Measuring 131 mm × 65 mm, the note is predominantly orange-brown and tan with dark brown printing on the multicolor underprint. Issued on 17 August 2022, it is signed by Governor Perry Warjiyo and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati. The banknote is manufactured from cotton fiber paper for durability.

Security features include a solid security thread with printed "BANK INDONESIA" text, a watermark of Dr. K.H. Idham Chalid with electrotype 5, and ultraviolet fluorescence technology integrated throughout for authentication purposes.
