50.000 Rials

The 50,000 rial note (5,000 toman) is a standard high-denomination circulation banknote of the Islamic Republic of Iran. First introduced in 2007, the design has been refined across multiple printings; the 2022 issue represents the latest incarnation featuring the tomb of 14th-century poet Hafez on the reverse, a celebrated site in Shiraz. As part of Iran's gradual currency redenomination policy, the trailing four zeros of '50,000' are printed in a lighter shade to visually align the note with its toman equivalent of '5 toman,' anticipating eventual redenomination at 10,000 rials to 1 toman.
