Kazakhstan 10.000 Tenge

The National Bank of Kazakhstan issued a limited edition commemorative 10,000 tenge banknote on November 15, 2023, honoring the 30th anniversary of the introduction of the national currency. A total of 3,000,000 pieces were produced. This purple and blue note measures 149 mm x 79 mm and bears the signature of Timur Suleimenov. The obverse features the national emblem, a Mobius strip symbolizing continuity, and a map of Kazakhstan with regions designed in traditional Saka cultural style — referencing the ancient nomadic civilization that inhabited the Kazakh steppe from the 7th to 3rd century BCE. The reverse showcases an outline of the Eurasian continent, a commemorative tenge coin, and another Mobius strip element.

The tenge was introduced on November 15, 1993, replacing the Soviet ruble following Kazakhstan's independence, marking a crucial milestone in the nation's economic sovereignty. The commemorative banknote is legal tender that must be accepted at face value throughout Kazakhstan. It incorporates 19 advanced security features, including a prominent coin displaying the golden three-dimensional State Emblem and optically changeable tenge symbols.

The varifeye ColourChange window feature provides a holographic element visible at the center of the transparent area, while the SPARK Flow PRIME element transitions from magenta to green creating a dynamic movement effect. The Mobius strip imagery throughout the design symbolizes Kazakhstan's continuous development and the enduring strength of its currency over three decades of independence.
