On 1 October 2022, the National Bank of Kazakhstan introduced the 20,000 Tenge banknote — the highest denomination in the 'Kazakh Eli' series, complementing existing denominations of 500 to 10,000 Tenge. The note's obverse incorporates a '30' motif honoring Kazakhstan's 30th anniversary of independence (1991–2021) and features the vertical composition characteristic of the series: the Kazakh Eli column monument, the Mangilik El arch, a yurt, doves in flight, and a fragment of the traditional Baskur ornamental ribbon. The reverse is horizontal and dominated by the modern skyline of Astana (formerly Nur-Sultan) with the Akorda Presidential Palace. The Durasafe composite substrate enhances the note's durability.
