The 5,000 tenge is the first banknote released in the National Bank of Kazakhstan's 'Saka Style' series, unveiled in November 2023 to mark the 30th anniversary of the tenge and celebrate Kazakhstan's pre-Islamic Saka nomadic heritage. The vertical obverse displays the 'Tree of Life' branch with a hovering bird from the Golden Man's headdress (Issyk Kurgan, 5th-4th centuries BCE), a golden eagle-shaped ornament from the Taldy II burial mound, a DNA spiral, and the national emblem. The horizontal reverse presents Charin Canyon framed within an infinity ornament, a spread-winged golden eagle from the Berel Mounds 'Valley of the Kings' (8th-7th centuries BCE), and a circular Kazakh decorative symbol.
