The grey 1,000 som note (dated 2023, circulated from 10 May 2023) commemorates Yusuf Balasaguni (c. 1021-1075), the 11th-century Karakhanid poet and philosopher whose masterwork 'Kutadgu Bilig' (Wisdom of Royal Glory) is a cornerstone of Turkic literature. The reverse displays Takhti Sulaiman, the ancient throne monument on Sulaiman-Too — a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Osh — set against the Sulaiman mountain range. The note measures 150 x 71 mm and features an intricate gold-to-jade OVI ornament on the obverse.
