Lebanon 5.000 Livres

The Lebanon 5,000 Livres note dated 2021 (P-91c) is the third variant in the Banque du Liban's 2012 geometric series. The design is unchanged from earlier variants of the same series, but the 2021 edition introduced an upgraded windowed security thread with demetalized BDL lettering and color-shifting properties. The cedar tree of Lebanon, the national emblem, appears as a registration device aligning across both faces. The note circulated during Lebanon's severe economic crisis, during which the lira lost more than 90% of its value.
