10 Maloti
The 10 Maloti banknote was officially released by the Central Bank of Lesotho on December 23, 2021, as part of a comprehensive redesigned series featuring enhanced security and reduced dimensions to accommodate advanced protective features. The obverse displays a portrait of one of Lesotho's historic kings alongside the national coat of arms and the Mokorotlo (Basotho hat) symbol, with intaglio printing creating tactile surfaces. The reverse showcases cosmos flowers on an African landscape in red and light rose tones, celebrating Lesotho's natural beauty. The note incorporates multiple security features including an Anima security thread that appears broken but becomes continuous when held to light, a watermark of King Moshoeshoe I wearing a top hat, and tactile parallel lines for visually impaired identification. Produced by De La Rue using ADDvance hybrid substrate combining cotton and wood pulp with sustainable certification, the series represents an upgrade from the 2010 series while maintaining design continuity.
