The L$100 banknote is part of the Central Bank of Liberia's renewed banknote family introduced between 2021 and 2024, the first comprehensive redesign in over a decade. The green and purple note measures 143 mm x 66 mm and was among the first denominations rolled out in the new series. William Tolbert (1913–1980) served as Liberia's president from 1971 until his assassination in the 1980 coup and is remembered as a reformist leader. The reverse's market-woman motif celebrates the vital role of women traders in Liberia's informal economy.
