The $50 Liberian banknote was officially released on October 6, 2022, honoring President Samuel K. Doe, the 20th President of Liberia. The obverse prominently features a portrait of President Doe alongside imagery of palm plantations. The reverse depicts a worker trimming an oil palm tree, the Central Bank of Liberia seal with crossed Kissi money symbols, and front and back imagery of a 1969 50-cent coin, creating a historical connection between Liberia's monetary past and present. The note measures 133 x 66 mm and features an elegant color scheme combining red, brown, and purple tones. The banknote incorporates a purple-to-gold windowed security thread with demetalized stars displaying pulsing and dynamic color-changing effects that shift brilliantly as the note is rotated. Additional security features include a see-through registration device with Liberian star fragments and clear visibility of CBL text and denomination markings when held to light.
