The obverse displays the first Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King) of Malaysia, maintaining the royal theme across the series. Reintroduced in the fourth series after being absent from the third series, the note represents Malaysia's commitment to marine conservation and biodiversity. The fourth series was released in July 2012 under the theme 'Distinctively Malaysia,' featuring traditional expressions, natural wonders, flora, fauna, and cultural heritage.
