The 2021 Mauritius 50 Rupees polymer note (P-65b) is an upgraded version of the Bank of Mauritius's 2013 series, transitioning the denomination to Guardian polymer substrate for greater durability and enhanced security. Printed by De La Rue using Guardian polymer and measuring 140 x 68 mm, the note retains the blue-and-orange color scheme of its predecessors. Joseph Maurice Paturau (1916–1996) was a visionary Mauritian industrialist who helped modernize the country's sugar and manufacturing sectors. The 2021 edition introduced the Gemini UV fluorescent feature as an additional security upgrade.
