500 Pesos
Banco de México released a commemorative 500 peso banknote bearing the "100 Aniversario 1925-2025" overprint legend to mark the institution's centennial celebration. The obverse features the portrait of Benito Juárez (1806-1872), one of Mexico's most revered historical figures, with the commemorative legend displayed below the Banco de México monogram. The reverse depicts a gray whale with its calf among seagrass, representing the El Vizcaíno Biosphere Reserve located in Baja California Sur.
This commemorative version maintains the G-series standard design specifications and color palette while incorporating the centennial designation. The 500 peso denomination was among the first to receive the commemorative overprint in 2025, and these notes are legal tender, coexisting with regular circulation notes of the same value throughout the Mexican monetary system.
