The 1,000-piso polymer banknote represents the Philippines' commitment to modernizing its currency through environmentally sustainable materials. The obverse features the critically endangered Philippine eagle (Pithecophaga jefferyi), the national bird, and the sampaguita (Jasminum sambac), the national flower, symbolizing the nation's natural heritage and biodiversity. The reverse depicts Tubbataha Reefs National Park, representing marine conservation, and the South Sea Pearl (Pinctada maxima), reflecting the country's oceanic resources.

This polymer banknote incorporates 11 sophisticated security features including a rolling bar effect, tactile dots for visually impaired users, embossed prints, a transparent window with sampaguita flowers, an optically variable device (OVD) that changes color and displays motion when tilted, security threads, and dual serial numbers. The note measures 160 mm x 66 mm and is colored light blue with a clear window positioned vertically on the left side.

The design was recognized internationally, winning the Banknote of the Year award from the International Banknote Society (IBNS) in 2022. Environmental studies confirm that the polymer version has a 38.4% lower carbon footprint than paper banknotes, and evidence shows viruses and bacteria remain for shorter periods on polymer surfaces compared to paper, contributing to public health benefits.
