Issued in April 2022, the 1,000-Piso polymer banknote is the first polymer-substrate note ever circulated in the Philippines and won the International Banknote Society's Banknote of the Year Award for 2022. Produced for the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas on De La Rue polymer, the note measures 160 x 66 mm and bears the signatures of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and BSP Governor Benjamin Estoista Diokno. Its flora-and-fauna theme highlights the Philippine Eagle — a critically endangered species and national symbol — alongside the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Tubbataha Reefs and the indigenous T'nalak textile tradition of the T'boli people.
