This violet cotton-abacá paper note is part of the New Generation Currency series introduced by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. The obverse bears a portrait of Manuel Roxas, the first President of the independent Third Republic, together with the 1949 Central Bank building and a scene from the Proclamation of the Third Republic in 1946. The reverse highlights the Philippines' natural heritage with an image of Mayon Volcano in Albay, a whale shark, and a Bicol Region textile weave design.
