Issued on 17 January 2021 to mark the 500th anniversary of the Battle of Mactan, this commemorative brown banknote bears a portrait of the young Lapu-Lapu, a depiction of the battle scene, and a karakoa warship on the obverse, with the Philippine Eagle, coconut tree, and Mt. Apo on the reverse. At 216 x 133 mm, it is the second-largest denomination ever issued by the BSP after the 1998 centennial PHP 100,000 note. It is legal tender but was made available for purchase rather than entering general circulation.
