Issued by the Narodowy Bank Polski, the 20 Złotych note portrays King Bolesław I Chrobry at the centre of the obverse, flanked by a Romanesque portal and an oak branch motif taken from the famous Gniezno Doors. The reverse depicts a silver denarius coin struck under Bolesław I bearing the inscription PRINCES POLONIE, together with the Church of St Nicholas in Cieszyn and a lion detail from the Gniezno Cathedral doors. The note's design celebrates the medieval foundations of Polish statehood and the Piast dynasty's cultural achievements.
