22 Riyals
Qatar · Qatar Central Bank
The Qatar 22 Riyals polymer commemorative banknote was unveiled by the Qatar Central Bank on November 9, 2022, to mark the country's hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 — the first World Cup held in the Arab world. The denomination of 22 riyals was deliberately chosen to reflect the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup taking place in the year 2022. With a print run of 6,000,000 pieces, the note was sold at banks and exchange houses for 75 riyals in a commemorative folder with a certificate of authenticity, though it remained legal tender at face value. The note is printed on polymer substrate by De La Rue and stands as an internationally recognized numismatic record of a landmark sporting event.
