The 5 Riyals note is part of Qatar's Fifth Banknote Series, launched by the Qatar Central Bank on 13 December 2020 and entering circulation on 18 December 2020 — Qatar's National Day. The 2022-dated printing (P-33b) is a continuation of this same series. Measuring 140 x 67 mm, the orange-and-purple note bears the signatures of Ali bin Ahmed al-Kuwari and Sheikh Bandar bin Mohammed bin Saoud Al-Thani, and carries 64 state-of-the-art security specifications. The desert imagery on the reverse evokes Qatar's Bedouin heritage and the natural fauna of the Arabian Peninsula.
