Qatar 500 Riyals

The Qatar 500 Riyals is the highest denomination of the Fifth Issue series released into circulation on December 18, 2020, with some printings dated 2022. The Fifth Issue was designed to modernize Qatari currency while celebrating the country's economic heritage, particularly its world-leading liquefied natural gas industry centered at Ras Laffan Industrial City. The 500 Riyal note made history as the first banknote in the world to carry the Nexus optical security tape, a compact and highly secure marking developed by De La Rue. The series also introduced the first holographic security thread in the Middle East on this denomination.
