Unveiled by the Bank of Russia on 16 October 2023, this modified 1,000 ruble banknote dedicates its imagery to Nizhny Novgorod and the broader Volga Federal District, replacing the former Yaroslavl theme. The obverse features the Nikolskaya Tower of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin and the confluence of the Oka and Volga rivers. The reverse depicts the Saratov road bridge, the Meteor high-speed hydrofoil, and the Palace of Farmers in Kazan, representing the diversity of the Volga region.
