The green 10 Rand entered circulation on 4 May 2023 as the lowest denomination of the SARB's Eighth Series upgrade, distinguished by emerald-green colouring that shifts to turquoise depending on the viewing angle. The obverse features Nelson Mandela's portrait with rings composed of the South African flag and constitutional text, the national coat of arms, and a black rhinoceros in SPARK Live Truspin colour-shifting ink at lower right. The reverse depicts two black rhinoceroses with a rhino-in-circle registration device, celebrating one of South Africa's most endangered Big Five species, measuring 128 x 70 mm.
