The 100 Sudanese Pounds note is part of the current banknote series issued by the Central Bank of Sudan, with the design first introduced in January 2019 and subsequent printings including the 2022 date. The obverse celebrates Sudan's extraordinary pre-Islamic Nubian heritage — the Pyramids of Meroe, built by the rulers of the ancient Kushite Kingdom, are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a symbol of the depth of Sudanese civilization. The reverse highlights Sudan's infrastructure investment, depicting the Merowe Dam, one of the largest hydroelectric dams in Africa, which opened in 2009 and dramatically increased Sudan's electricity generation capacity.
