100 Somoni

The National Bank of Tajikistan issued this regular circulation 100 Somoni banknote in 2021 as part of its standard currency series, continuing to circulate through 2025. This note differs from the commemorative 2025 issue (e44) and represents the standard design used for general economic circulation.

The obverse depicts Abu Ibrohim Ismoili ibni Ahmad Somonī, the founder of the Samanid state and historical emir of Transoxiana and Khorasan during the 9th century. The design includes the iconic Samanid Mausoleum and the tomb of Ismoili Somoni located in Bukhara, Uzbekistan.

The reverse features the Navruz Palace (Kohi Navruz), a significant architectural landmark in Dushanbe, alongside the national flag of Tajikistan. This represented a design change from earlier issues that featured the Presidential Palace.

Manufactured by Giesecke & Devrient, this 156 × 65 mm paper banknote is signed by national officials and incorporates a holographic stripe featuring Ismoil Somoni, the denomination, and the national coat of arms alongside a color-changing windowed security thread with demetalized elements.
