500 Somoni

The Tajikistan 500 Somoni banknote, dated 2024, features the poet Abu Abd Allah Jafar ibn Muhammad al-Rudhaki (859-941), known as Rudaki or the Adam of the poets. Rudaki is celebrated as the first great literary genius of the modern Persian language and holds profound cultural significance for Tajikistan and the broader Persian-speaking world. His literary contributions and philosophical works represent the pinnacle of medieval Persian poetry and continue to influence Central Asian intellectual traditions. The obverse design includes Rudaki's portrait, the National Emblem, and the denomination in a brown color scheme with yellow accents on a multicolor underprint.

The reverse of the note displays the Palace of the Nation (Tajik: Qasri Millat), the official residence of the President of Tajikistan located in central Dushanbe. This architectural landmark features distinctive white marble walls, multiple four-story pillars, and a golden dome topped with the national flag. The reverse also includes the presidential banner of Tajikistan, artistic sketches of doves of peace in flight symbolizing peace and harmony, the national flag, and the denomination.

The 500 Somoni note represents the highest denomination in the 2024 banknote series issued by the National Bank of Tajikistan. The signatures on the 2024 version (Rahmon/Tolibzoda) distinguish it from previous issues. This denomination serves essential functions for major transactions within Tajikistan's economy while promoting the nation's cultural heritage and historical significance.
