100 Baht
On June 20, 2024, the Bank of Thailand announced the issuance of a commemorative 100 Baht banknote in honor of the 6th cycle (72nd) birthday anniversary of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn (Rama X), celebrated on July 28, 2024. The commemorative banknote was printed on polymer substrate using state-of-the-art technology to ensure durability and incorporate advanced counterfeit deterrent features. The note was designed in a vertical format to emphasize the prominence and elegance of the King's image and to distinguish it from standard circulation banknotes.
A total of 10 million notes were issued, each legal tender valued at 100 Baht. The banknotes bear the signatures of Dr. Sethaput Suthiwartnarueput and Srettha Thavisin. The obverse features King Rama X in full regalia with the Knight Grand Cordon (Special Class) of the Most Illustrious Order of Chula Chom Klao breast chain and the Royal Garuda emblem.
This commemorative issue follows the Thai tradition of honoring royal milestones with specially designed currency. The 6th cycle birthday, corresponding to the 72nd year in the 12-year Buddhist zodiac cycle, holds particular auspicious significance in Thai culture. The vertical format, measuring 89 mm x 163 mm, is distinctive from Thailand's standard horizontally formatted circulation banknotes.
